Why a strike is bad - 2

Continuing from the post below, let us understand further some issues that are relevant.
MOTIVATION FOR THE STRIKE
Personal grudges of students like Arya Tripathi who had been fined some time back for being violent (she hit a senior with a shoe), Maula Hasan who cheated in exam and was fined etc. are the main reasons that are being used as fuel for the fire of this strike. Instead of what these students might dream up as "real issues" these little things are coming across as the chief reasons for the strike. Earlier as well, students like Bikramaditya Ghosh, Aditya Singh and others have gone on hunger strike and pressure tactics to make sure a druggie is promoted to the next class, 9th sem, without having written exams of the 8th sem. People like Arun Skaria and Zeeshan have their own personal scores to settle. People like Debajyoti and Avni Bansal have their political ambitions to become the next Presidents of the college. These are the concerns that seem to be the most important. These are the bases on which the community is being mobilised and nothing else.
WHERE DOES THE STRIKE LEAD US
Let us all be sure that the Executive Council, the Governing Council and the Chancellor, Hon'ble CJ of Chhattisgarh are not going to listen to the students concerns unless and until the strike is called off and classes resumed. The same goes for the Senior Advocates of the Supreme Court and other people like Justice Agnihotri of the HC who are in the position of decision making with respect to the university. Hence the "noble cause" as they put it, of removing the VC cannot be achieved as well.
This on the other hand means that recruiters are going to be completely absent from the university for a long time to come. So there are (1) no cogent reasons for the strike (2) no jobs for the coming batches and a likelihood of a lot of students currently studying here to lose a year.

  1. For those concerned about HNLU, I am also concerned as I am a student at another (older) National Law School. The problems brought out about HNLU concern me as well as they concern the larger question of quality of legal education in India.

    I have a few questions:
    1. If the VC is actually doing his job why has the building taken so long?
    2. What is the defense against non law faculty teaching law courses?
    3. What about the lack of a Registrar? How long does it take to find one?
    4. What about fewer than required lectures being conducted?
    5. Why is the mess dirty? (old buildings can be clean)
    6. Hostel is described as inhumanly dirty, are you sayinng its better? If yes, how? If no, then whats the defense?
    7. Schools of Excellence being dysfunctional?
    8. How do you justify the mess and the hostels beiing 10 kilometers apart? What provisions have been made if students want to eat something later?

  2. If the allegations you make are true, it would be good to see a point by point rebuttal instead of merely casting aspersions at the motives of students.

I am also interested in how the decision to strike was taken, was there a popular vote or is this a decision of a few people.

  3. @ Red:
I'm replying to your comment in a separate post. Please do read that.

    @ Anon:
Thank you for your queries which I would try to answer even though my resources are limited. I am a student and not administration of HNLU. These queries can be answered by the administration. TO get an "answer" from them, we need to talk to them, instead of merely standing out there everyday clicking pictures and making desperate attempts to talk to second rung media. It is sad how students and ex students of other law schools are so concerned about us merely for the spice in the story without even engaging with the basic ground facts. For more of your answers, see our humble attempt in the fresh post in which Red's queries are also answered.

  4. it seems either u r not familiar with the hnlu or u r acting as a agent of vc becoz i guess u dont have even a slightest idea of wht hnlu is suffering.
2nd most imp thing u r talking abt administration wht do u think wht has made us taking this route i.e. strike. i think u r not the part of this college other wise u wont be talking like this hence no point point in convincing u on present state of affairs in hnlu...
keep ur mouth shut if u dont have to do anything or u r just acting on behalf of others(vc)
    thank u

  5. Dear Anon,

I don't feel the need to defend myself on this statement at all because it is just so stupid. The mere fact that some students are coming up with the other side of the story is causing your "movement" to fall right on its face!
The reason for you to say that we are not students of HNLU can be one of the following three:
    1) You are a plain self-obsessed and think that there can be no other opinion than yours
    2) You are shit scared and are getting down to cheap tactics like this!

Your rhetoric above has no substance and you don't even have the courage to deny the averments we have made, leave alone the facts to deny what we're saying.

    Dear Madhavi,
    God help you! Peace.

  6. My dear Anon, i donot understand the logic of hiding your identity, if you really feel something of a malafide conspiracy to strike is going onthen come out right and say it.
Moreover I appreciate the points you have made and that is the reason why your blog has many followers (Sarcastic).
Before we move ahead with this sensible discussion i want to tell first that this is not a strike or a conspiracy against VC. This is a movement to have an alert student body ,including you(if you are as claimed a student). For last 4 years we have been suffering with a desease called mal administration. The symptoms of this desease is nepotism, unreasonable fines, no transpiracy, no intellectual stimulating debates in the class rooms, unqualified teachers teaching subjects etc etc...

If my guess is not wrong you are a new faculty at HNLU who is going to get a fat pay check for this woinderful mirage of lies creatednin this blogspot or a student who has adapted or adjusted in to this system where you have realised that with sweet words and money shall bring you marks and will improve your CGPA.

i beleive this blogspot cannot be made by the Vice Chancellor M.K.Srivastava because if you are a student of HNLU you would know that he cannot deliver a single lecture or write up in english. Moreover there would be the word BETA BETA coming in every two lines.

Therefore my dear friend it doesnot matter if we had beer or if some of us in the student community are doing it with malafide intention.

My dear friend you have made broad comments on various students, yet you take the defence that the administration must answer the queries.

now as poliety as i bid adeiu to you by saying FUCK YOU!!!!

While I commend your attempt to provide an alternative viewpoint, I don't think naming names is really required. That is classic ad hominem which is not a good way to argue. Even if you do want to cast aspersions on people's characters and motivations, you might want to edit this post to remove their actual names.

  9. @ Anons,

    1) Your abuses are irrelevant to anything. They don't bother us, they are not related to the issues and they are useless.

    2) We see nothing wrong in naming people. We can't possibly not name a person who cheated in an exam and was fined and is now leading the strike, if we want to substantiate what we say.

    3) We hide our identity because it is a fact that we are concerned about our careers and more importantly, our safety. Enough said. I mean tomorrow, Shrivastava might be there, might not be there, we still have to stay here and struggle for our jobs!

    4) Your charges of maladministration are that the VC's english is not good and that he calls you 'beta'! Good for you! No wonder you're the ones on strike and not us!

Guys, we are students. We have to care about our careers!! If you have charges of maladministration, deny what I said on the blog. If you can't, let's demand for an enquiry committee into the charges. Strike is not the solution.
